Donald Trump lost for the first time in the 2024 election campaign to Nikki Haley in the Republican Party primary in Columbia District, according to AP.

In the Columbia District, Nikki Haley received almost 63% of Republican votes, while Trump got 33%. As a result of the voting, Haley will receive all 19 delegates from the district, bringing her total to 43 delegates. Trump has 247 delegates, and a total of 2429 delegates will be elected during the Republican primaries, which will officially announce the presidential candidate in July.

Before the primaries in the Columbia District, Trump had 244 delegate votes, while Nikki Haley had 24. Now, all 19 delegate votes from the district will go to Haley.

Tomorrow, on March 5, during Super Tuesday, primaries and caucuses of both leading parties will take place simultaneously in 15 states and one overseas territory. Republicans will decide the fate of 874 delegates. Trump’s campaign headquarters expects to secure at least 773 of them.

Presidential elections in the US

The presidential elections in the US are scheduled for November 5, 2024. According to forecasts, the main candidate from the Democrats will be the incumbent American leader, Joe Biden. Among the Republicans, in addition to Donald Trump, former US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley is also a favorite.

In late February, Trump and Biden won their primaries in the state of Michigan.

In addition, Trump won the Republican primaries in South Carolina, the home state of his rival Nikki Haley.

On Saturday, March 2, Trump won three more Republican primaries, outperforming his rival Nikki Haley in Missouri and Idaho, and receiving the votes of all remaining delegates from Michigan.

Meanwhile, Trump leads Biden in the results of a poll conducted by The New York Times and Siena College.
