Dans L’esprit Coubertin, en salles ce mercredi 8 mai 2024, Benjamin Voisin vaut le détour en champion de tir neuneu, dernier espoir de médaille pour la France aux Jeux olympiques de Paris. Il est l’atout principal de ce premier film de Jérémie Sein qui tire des rires mais manque un peu de souffle.

Oubliez son rôle de jeune ambitieux romantique dans Illusions perdues , de Xavier Giannoli. Coupe au carré, petit bouc, air idiot, Benjamin Voisin est méconnaissable en gendarme champion de tir débarquant aux Jeux de Paris 2024, dans L’esprit Coubertin, qui débarque au cinéma le jour de l’arrivée de la flamme olympique à Marseille.

L’innocent (à tous points de vue), est flanqué d’une coach autoritaire dont il est vaguement amoureux : l’actrice et réalisatrice Emmanuelle Bercot, complètement déjantée. Rivaldo Pawawi joue son voisin de chambrée, Grégoire Ludig (du Palmashow) le patron des sports français. Jérémie Sein, membre de l’équipe de la série Parlement, est le réalisateur de cet « antifilm de sport ».

L’histoire

«Â On vient, on gagne, on s’en va », telle est la devise de Paul. Après dix jours d’épreuves où la France accumule les fiascos, ce neuneu arrive au village olympique en incarnant le dernier espoir de médaille française. Il y croit. C’est sans compter sur un nageur qui atterrit dans son studio après avoir été chassé de sa chambre par des puces de lit américaines, collectionne les conquêtes et veut introduire une pincée de politique aux Jeux.

L’interprétation bluffante de Benjamin Voisin ; le côté BD, absurde de l’histoire ; la critique de l’esprit de compétition et des clichés des commentateurs sportifs.

On aime moins

L’humour des dialogues et des situations est souvent plus régressif que subversif.  Après avoir bien campé la plupart de ses protagonistes, L’esprit Coubertin s’essouffle avant la ligne d’arrivée et reste somme toute une comédie très potache.
