Lenovo has revealed the latest iteration of the Legion 9i, their flagship high end gaming laptop that’s really more of a desktop replacement than a portable gaming machine, packing not only some of the best hardware you can find and fit into a laptop chassis, but also topped off with a forged carbon fibre lid.
Lenovo Legion 9i Malaysia pricing and availability
The Legion 9i is actually already available in Malaysia, at least according to the Lenovo Malaysia website. You can find the Legion 9i there on sale starting at RM15,129 at time of writing, in the configuration packing an Intel Core i9-14900HX with 32GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card. Their eCoupons however would automatically bring it down to RM14,879.38 on the Lenovo Malaysia website.
That being said though, you can still upgrade to 64GB of RAM for RM600 more or double your storage to 2TB for RM540 more. Incidentally, adding both of those upgrades together on the Lenovo Malaysia website at time of writing actually lowered the check out price to RM13,278.77 as you’ll get additional discounts totalling RM2,990.24.
Lenovo Legion 9i: The most extravagant Legion laptop ever, complete with carbon fibre lid
If you really have money to spare, you can also opt to upgrade to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU for an extra RM2,360, though again because of the Lenovo Malaysia’s website fluctuating discounts, you can save even more with all three upgrades selected only increasing the final check out price to RM15,205.
Lenovo Legion 9i specs
Dubbed the ‘most luxurious’ laptop that Lenovo has ever made under the Legion brand, the Legion 9i is certainly designed to cater to a demographic that wants their machine to be both powerful and stylish at the same time. The star feature here is certainly its forged carbon fibre lid that makes it not only durable but also lighter than similar desktop replacement gaming laptops at just under 2.6kg.
As for its display, you’ll find a 16-inch, Mini LED panel here with 1,536 dimming zones pushing a 3200 x 2000 resolution in a 16:10 aspect ratio capable of a 165Hz refresh rate, a 3ms response time, full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, a peak brightness of 1200nits along with DisplayHDR 1000 certification and support for NVIDIA G-SYNC.
Under the hood, the Legion 9i comes with just a single option for its processor: the 14th Gen Intel Core i9-14900HX, the fastest mobile chip from Team Blue. That gets mated to up to 64GB of DDR5 5600MHz RAM, up to 2TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage and your choice between the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 or the GeForce RTX 4090; regardless of the graphics card you choose though, they both come with stock 150W TGPs with an additional 25W of Dynamic Boost. All of that is kept cool with Lenovo’s Legion Coldfront Liquid internal cooling system. There’s also a MUX switch and support for NVIDIA Advanced Optimus for better balance between performance and battery life.
For I/O, you’ll find a 3.5mm combo audio jack and an SD card reader on the left, a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 and USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port on the right side as well as a USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port, two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, a HDMI 2.1 output and an Ethernet port on the back. The Lenovo Legion 9i also comes with support for WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1 wireless connectivity.
Other cool features of the Legion 9i include an RGB backlit TrueStrike Keyboard with 1.5mm key travel and replaceable keycaps for not only easy repairability but also personalisation. You’ll also find a fingerprint sensor for Windows Hello, a 1080p webcam with an eShutter, a pair of 2W speakers, a 99.99Whr battery and a Lenovo LA3 AI chip for AI-powered dynamic system tuning to fit the task you’re doing, be it gaming or professional work.
