La Russie a lancé un avis de recherche contre le président ukrainien Volodymyr Zelensky, sans rendre public son motif, selon une notice visible samedi sur le site du ministère de l’Intérieur. Le dirigeant est recherché « en vertu d’un article du Code pénal », peut-on lire dans ce court texte, qui ne dit rien d’autre sur la nature de ces accusations.

La Russie mène depuis février 2022 une offensive contre l’Ukraine, qu’elle présente notamment comme un combat contre un pouvoir « nazi ». Volodymyr Zelensky est particulièrement pris pour cible par les responsables russes. Au lendemain du lancement de son assaut, le président Vladimir Poutine avait appelé l’armée ukrainienne à le renverser.

Une liste bien fournie

La liste des personnes recherchées par la Russie est très fournie et comprend des personnalités russes ou étrangères, notamment ukrainiennes. En février, le nom de la Première ministre estonienne Kaja Kallas y avait été ajouté. En septembre 2023, l’avocate de 46 ans, qui ne cachait pas son souhait d’être nommée à la tête de l’Otan d’après Associated Press, avait proposé d’imposer aux pays frontaliers de la Russie un embargo commercial dont la Pologne et la Finlande.

D’autres responsables des pays baltes ont été inscrits sur cette liste. Le Kremlin avait invoqué, pour justifier cette décision, la vision opposée de l’Histoire qu’ont Moscou et ces États. Les États baltes, qui craignent les ambitions militaires du Kremlin, considèrent que l’URSS les a occupés, tandis que Moscou se voit comme un libérateur et juge toute autre approche comme une « falsification de l’Histoire », un crime en Russie.
