SHARJAH, 30th April, 2024 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairperson of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators (RQ), inaugurated the Rubu’ Qarn Music Centre, in presence of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of The American University of Sharjah (AUS).

This marks a significant milestone in Sharjah’s cultural journey, embodying the emirate’s steadfast commitment to nurturing talent and advancing the national identity through the arts.

The centre offers a vibrant environment where students can acquire new musical skills through individual and group lessons on various musical instruments and gain knowledge from musical lectures, seizing opportunities to shine through talent competitions and on-stage performances. Additionally, it provides a direct pathway to obtaining prestigious international certifications from The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and Trinity College.

During her visit of the centre’s facilities, Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi observed various teaching methods, as well as the environment in the music classrooms, ballet studio, and concert halls. These spaces have been meticulously designed to the highest specifications to provide the best educational experience for students. She also explored the centre’s advanced setups of musical instruments and tools, which enhance its ability to provide high-level musical education.

Sheikha Jawaher emphasised the importance of music in building promising generations and enhancing cultural exchange between different communities. She stated, “When we strive to embody our authentic identity and enhance our connection with the peoples of the world and their cultures, music emerges as one of the most significant representations of cultural identity. Being in itself a language capable of speaking to the soul without words, it has a rich history of enhancing cultural diversity among communities, going beyond mere entertainment or a hobby. This principle is what drives us to invest in music as a vital element of intellectual and artistic convergence in Sharjah. H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, is keen on stimulating artistic creativity and promoting musical sensibility among community members. Establishing the Rubu’ Qarn Music Centre is a testament to this vision, where local talents are embraced in a creative and dynamic environment that nurtures and develops their skills as aspiring musicians, while also providing vibrant opportunities to explore the diverse cultures”.

Through our programmes, the foundation aims to develop critical thinking and creative skills among participants, supporting the missions of local educational institutions, both on a scholastic and university level, in forming a distinguished generation of researchers and thinkers. This national project will effectively contribute to the personal and social development of individuals, stimulate innovative musical thinking, and enhance Sharjah’s status as a global cultural destination, attractive to talents and creativity”.

We also aim to empower them in the arts of solo and group vocal performance, alongside craftsmanship workshops focused on the manufacture and repair of musical instruments. Through these programmes, the centre aims to enable participants to use advanced technology in the music field, creating a supportive creative environment under the supervision of a selection of global experts”.

The Rubu’ Qarn Music Centre welcomes families and individuals of all age groups, working to encourage participants to express themselves through art and music, which contributes to building their character and enhancing their self-confidence. The centre emphasises the importance of the arts in strengthening cultural communication and mutual respect among peoples.
