Kaizer Chiefs now linked with top PSL striker

Kaizer Chiefs are now linked with top PSL striker Iqraam Rayners who is currently on the books of Stellenbosch FC.

According to a source known to Soccer Laduma, Amakhosi have reignited their interest in Rayners ahead of the new season.

Chiefs have struggled to find a consistent goalscorer over the past few seasons, and the arrival of Ashley du Preez has also not helped much.

While Du Preez can score goals, he often struggles to pitch when the chips are down as there is over reliance on him.

The Chiefs management together with the technical team even went abroad to sign Jasond Gonzales on loan from Real Santa Cruz in January.

However, that move has seemingly backfired with Gonzales yet to find the back of the net let alone provide an assist to any of his teammates.

Ranga Chivaviro had come in with high expectations from Marumo Gallants after enjoying his best football last season but he’s misfiring at Chiefs.

Now, Chiefs are reported to have lined up a meeting with Stellies where Rayners is expected to be discussed.

KAIZER CHIEFS TO MEET STELLIES OVER RAYNERS?

“Chiefs have set up a meeting with Stellies where Rayners will be discussed. They need someone who can score goals for the team and Rayners has proven he is able to do that at every level,” said the source.

RAYNERS TO REUNITE WITH FORMER TEAMMATES?

Chiefs have lately raided Stellies for players, and if the news of Rayners are true then it means he will reunite with three of his former teammates.

Two seasons ago, Amakhosi signed both Du Preez and Zitha Kwinika before adding Sibongiseni Mthethwa at the start of the season.

This means they will now have signed four players from Stellies in three years should they get the Rayners deal over the line.

However, Chiefs have to be mindful of the fact that Rayners didn’t play his best football the last time he was in Gauteng with SuperSport United.

The Bafana Bafana struggled to adapt until he returned to Stellies where he again became one of the top strikers in the league.
