Women’s steeplechase, The first appearance of the year for Emma Kirby, 10 years since she was last in China, winning in in Shanghai in 2014. There’s a closer as well as back. Congratulations Belatedly. She is now a mum and this is her first time in league meeting since having her baby last year. Yi is also here at Jennings. Gabriel Jennings from the USA. Women’s 3000m steeplechase underway 7 1/2 laps of the track. Water jump of course, and barriers and it will be interesting to see how Beatrice Chekovic goes about this. Asking for 855 world lead pace that 855 set last weekend by Bertrice Chebkowicz. That’s around 255 kilometres, so we’ll keep an eye on that. And Chip Kerwich Hannah last weekend, pretty much front run from gun to tape and here she is early stages right up on the shoulder of the pacemaker. Tried to go with Jack Kerwich last week and faded in the last two or three laps. Coming. And it will be relentless that the Olympic champion is going to, I’m sure, try and live with the Kenyan for just a few more laps. I think 2023, she was right back on it. We were both very impressed with the way she started the season last weekend in Siaman and she’s continued her form here. 2 races in a week for these steeple chasers is not easy. Is a distant second. And there the chasing pack with Alameo, the the young Ethiopian Emma Coburn. We just must mention her after a really difficult 2023. Looks as though she’s now settled for something outside 9 minutes, but final barrier negotiated nicely. It looked as though sub 9 minutes was on at the bell. No longer. That doesn’t matter. It’s two wins out of two in China for Beatrice Chekovic, and that’s a real warning sign for the rest of the field in Olympic year. Congratulations to her. Chapter Mike comes home, Krauser challenging Khan for 3rd and Alamo. The Ethiopian shunted down into 4th place. That’s a really good return to Diamond League racing for Giza, Felitas Klausa, 31 years old, now twice European champion. That’s a great return for her. But the story the time doesn’t matter. Another win here for Beatrice Chekovich. The world record role. I mean you were in the same tactics over and over again that you could say you’re you’re giving your competitors at a sneak peek at what’s going to happen and I think Koech is is very committed to this tactic, but it works.
