seven-week road safety project on m90 south of perth to start this weekend

M90 northbound near Bridge of Earn

A £1.3 million road safety project lasting nearly seven weeks will get under way on the M90 near Glenfarg this weekend.

Amey is undertaking the overnight works, which will address 1.6 miles of the Perth and Kinross motorway.

The project will see improvements made to 1.6 miles (2.6km) of the vehicle barrier restraint systems on the central reserve of the M90, between the footbridge at Glenfarg and travelling south to the B996 overbridge.

The scheme, which Amey is completing on behalf of Transport Scotland, will start on Sunday, February 11 and finish on Friday, March 29.

The work to upgrade the barrier restraint system will take place overnight between 8pm to 6am from Sunday to Thursday each week.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the improvements will be undertaken under overnight lane closures.

There will be a lane two closure on both the northbound and southbound carriageways during the work.

There will also be additional lane one closures in relation to which side of the carriageway the operatives are working on, with the hard shoulder in operation for traffic.

The hard shoulder running will be switched on a weekly basis to preserve the condition of the hard shoulder.

Traffic management will be lifted each morning at 6am before being put back in place each night at 8pm.

The project is weather-dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are unfavourable.
