Andhra MLA rejoins YSRCP two months after quitting the party
Two months after leaving YSRCP for Congress, Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy rejoined the party in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Although he is unlikely to be renominated from his constituency, Mangalagiri, which will go to a backward class (BC) candidate this time, the MLA said he had decided to return to the party as various parties are coming together to defeat YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as they had done against YS Rajasekhara Reddy in 2009.
The TDP, the Jan Sena, and the BJP are currently negotiating on sharing seats in Andhra Pradesh.
The Mangalgiri seat will see Nara Lokesh of the TDP trying his luck for the second time after failing to win in 2019, losing to YSRCP’s Alla Ramakrishna Reddy. However, Ramakrishna Reddy quit the party in December last year citing personal reasons.
Alla Ramakrishna had accused the party leadership of indifference to him and neglecting his constituency. The YSRCP had neither accepted his resignation nor did it make any statement against him. Adding that the Opposition was trying to prevent benefits to the poor, he said “I rejoined YSRCP to ensure that the efforts of the Opposition do not succeed.”
He went on to add that Lokesh would lose to whoever fights on the YSRCP ticket.
