The Kaizer Chiefs manager search is ongoing and two candidates have seemingly ruled themselves out of contention.
Two names rule themselves out for the Kaizer Chiefs manager job?
Mngqithi happy at Sundowns
Mngqithi’s agent Mike Makaab has said that his client is negotiating a new deal with Sundowns, and is happy to remain there as their assistant coach. Chiefs allegedly agreed terms with the former Golden Arrows boss at the start of this season, but Sundowns acted swiftly to exercise a one-year extension on his deal.
“Manqoba is happy at the club, we’ve said this all along. Now it just depends on us agreeing with the football club to extend his contract,” he told Gagasi FM only last month.
Luxemburgo headed for Chile?
Vastly experienced Brazilian boss Vanderlei Luxemburgo left Brazilian giants Corinthians in September last year. According to the latest rumours, the 71-year-old former Real Madrid boss has his heart set on a move to Chile with Club Deportivo Tricolor. Luxemburgo, a veteran of the Brazilian scene, led the national team to Copa America glory in 1999. Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos and Cafu were just a few of the illustrious names in that squad.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WITHIN REACH FOR EX-CHIEFS MAN
FCSB finished the regular Romanian season atop the standings with 64 points, nine points ahead of Rapid Bucuresti. In Romania’s SuperLiga, things then get resolved in a Championship Round. The top six from the regular season slug it out in a ‘mini-league’ playing each other twice to settle the destination of the title. Ngezana’s team have one hand on the trophy after a flawless start in the championship round, winning four matches out of four. Ngezana has featured in all four at the business end. His side have conceded only once so far.
FCSB meet strugglers Rapid Bucuresti next on 20 April, knowing a win will take them to within three points of the title. Winning the SuperLiga in Romania guarantees UEFA Champions League qualification. What an incentive for head coach Elias Charalambous, Ngezana and the rest of the group!
