Jujutsu Kaisen: Yuji’s Domain Expansion, Explained

Yuji Itadori’s power and abilities are continuously growing in Jujutsu Kaisen, making him a bright prospect in the series.
Yuji has recently tapped into the power of his cursed technique, using an ability called Piercing Blood, which surprised even Sukuna.
There are hints that Yuji might be able to manifest a domain expansion, particularly a blood domain, making him one of the most powerful sorcerers in history and a potential threat to Sukuna.

Yuji Itadori is at the center of attention in Jujutsu Kaisen at the moment and for all the right reasons. The Culling Game arc is now heading closer to its climax and fans have been loving the developments that the story has showcased over the course of the last few months.

After the fight between Gojo and Sukuna concluded, there was a lot of other interesting stuff left to tackle, especially the plot points surrounding Itadori Yuji, who joined the battle, trying his best to confront Sukuna. However, he still does not have the required power to do this. Yet, there are hints in the story that suggest Yuji will soon manifest an incredible ability and this might even come in the form of a domain expansion.

Yuji’s Cursed Technique Awakening

Yuji Itadori is quite strong as a fighter. He has shown that he’s capable of taking down special grade curses in the past and, since then, he has leveled up drastically in combat. In the Culling Game, Yuji has hit an entirely new level and even though he isn’t on the same level as some of the strongest characters in the series, Yuji is still a very bright prospect who is still growing with each passing chapter. He’s trained hard before entering the fight against Sukuna recently and fans did get glimpses of him with Choso and the others. All that training could have aided him drastically in combat and it appears that he has finally managed to tap into the power of his cursed technique in the previous chapter.

In JJK chapter 247, Yuji was seen in combat against Sukuna. Of course, Sukuna did not pay much attention to him because, according to him, Yuji is a bore. However, Yuji kept up his relentless attacks anyway. He was seen attacking Sukuna from a distance using an ability known as Piercing Blood. This ability is something that fans know to be very dangerous and certainly among the strongest in the series. Piercing Blood has been used by the likes of Noritoshi Kamo and, of course, Choso as well. This is an incredible ability that fans know will aid Yuji greatly in battle. And, even though it did not allow him to inflict any serious damage to Sukuna in the previous chapter, it certainly surprised him.

Furthermore, this hints that even bigger things are to come in the story, such as the proper usage of the cursed technique that Piercing Blood belongs to, and that is something that can happen anytime in the story. Fans know that Kamo is a user of blood manipulation. This is the same ability that Choso also possesses and even though it might not be the strongest in the series, it is still incredibly overpowered and, when used right, can drastically allow the user to boost their strength.

Furthermore, there might be other applications of this technique that fans have not seen just yet and that only Yuji can bring out. Essentially, Yuji has access to blood manipulation now and this technique is nothing short of extraordinary. The many applications of blood manipulation that fans have seen in the story can all be used by Yuji. However, his mastery over them remains under question. Fans did see Yuji train with Choso and refer to him as a bad teacher. Later on, Kamo likely helped him out and Yuji learning the power of blood manipulation is something that fans somewhat expected. It remains to be seen how far he can take this ability.

Can Yuji Manifest A Domain?

The big question remains as to whether Yuji can manifest a domain expansion or not. Yuji is strong and certainly one of the most talented people in JJK as a whole. Gojo even believed that Yuji, if he kept pressing forward, would one day get so strong that he would be close to his level or, potentially on the same level as him. This alone makes Yuji an incredible prospect and one that likely has a faster growth rate than any. There are people other than Yuji who could potentially manifest a blood domain, however, none of them have managed to do it so far.

Kamo does not have enough power in him to do that and Choso, while a great potential, has not managed to manifest a domain expansion either.

This leads one to Yuji who fans know is the most talented sorcerer among the bunch. If Yuji has truly managed to learn the power of blood manipulation, then he is the one who has the highest chance out of all of them to manifest a domain expansion and this ability is certainly going to be very dangerous.

Yuji’s Domain Expansion – The Blood Domain

Yuji’s domain expansion is going to come sooner rather than later in the story. The fact is that Yuji will hit great heights as a sorcerer regardless of what path his character ends up taking and, for any sorcerer, the highest form of sorcery is domain expansions. It would be incredibly bizarre for Yuji to not learn one of them, and once his cursed technique is confirmed to the fans, it is highly likely that Yuji will go on to progress from there onwards and, eventually, manifest a domain expansion. Given that it is highly likely at this point that Yuji has access to blood manipulation, then the domain that he will manifest will be a blood domain.

How exactly this domain expansion would work isn’t clear to the fans just yet and the author of the story has his freedom on how he would want this domain expansion to work. However, it is likely going to give him control over streams of blood, similar to Piercing Blood and, potentially, even control the blood of his enemies. In that case, Yuji could potentially become one of the most overpowered sorcerers in history and this will certainly aid him greatly in the many battles that he is currently fighting and the battles that are to come in the future as well.

Yuji Vs Sukuna

Yuji versus Sukuna is currently ongoing and, for now, Yuji is not managing to pose any level of threat to Sukuna. Now, things will flip once Yuji manages to bring out the full extent of the blood manipulation ability and, against all odds, if he manages to pull off a domain expansion, then Sukuna will surely be in trouble and, at the same time, very invested in this fight. From there onwards, Yuji will have to fight and grow at the same time and, eventually, reach a level where he can put up an equal fight against Sukuna and then go on to defeat him.

This is easier said than done, but it isn’t impossible either, especially given that Yuji himself is the protagonist of the series. For all that good stuff to happen, however, fans will have to wait as JJK is going to be on a 3-week break starting this week.
