Bestyrelsesformand for Jyllands-Postens Fond og Jyllands-Posten Holding, Jørgen Ejbøl, betaler nu et eftervederlag på 2,1 millioner kroner tilbage.

Det skriver Jyllands-Postens Fond i en pressemeddelelse torsdag aften ifølge Politiken.

Politiken har tidligere denne uge beskrevet, hvordan Jørgen Ejbøl modtog et eftervederlag på 2,1 millioner kroner, da han fyldte 75 år i februar.

Udbetalingen skete kort tid efter en større fyringsrunde og besparelser hos mediet. I efteråret nedlagde mediet 37 stillinger i forbindelse med en sparerunde. Størstedelen var redaktionelle stillinger.

Jørgen Ejbøl har tidligere fortalt til Politiken, at Jyllands-Posten har tradition for at give eftervederlaget, når fondens bestyrelsesformand pensioneres.

Jørgen Ejbøl fortsætter dog som bestyrelsesformand efter udbetalingen.

Det mødte kritik fra blandt andet tidligere næstformand for fonden Michael Holm, der udtalte, at Jørgen Ejbøl opførte sig som eneejer af virksomheden.

Professor i økonomistyring ved Aalborg Universitet Per Nikolaj Bukh har kaldt udbetalingen af eftervederlaget til den ikke afgående bestyrelsesformand for “en uforståelig praksis”.

– Jeg kan godt forstå, hvis medarbejderne føler sig provokeret af det, i særdeleshed efter en fyringsrunde, siger han til Politiken.

Jørgen Ejbøl understreger i pressemeddelelsen torsdag aften, at der efter hans overbevisning blev handlet i god tro, da det blev besluttet af udbetale eftervederlaget.

– Vi har i den grad handlet i god tro, men har åbenlyst ikke fået den rigtige vejledning, for efter dialog med en advokat med fondsretlig ekspertise, som vi i dag har modtaget rådgivning fra, står det klart, at aftalen ikke holder juridisk.

– Derfor betaler jeg selvfølgelig pengene tilbage med det samme. Det kan og skal ikke diskuteres, skriver han.
