Arsenal hero Paul Merson is not expecting the Gunners to be winning the Premier League title on Sunday, predicting a Manchester City victory over West Ham to secure top spot.

The title race is going down to the final day of the campaign, with City two points ahead of Arsenal thanks to their win over Tottenham on Tuesday.

Mikel Arteta’s side do have a superior goal difference so if Pep Guardiola’s men were to draw with West Ham and Arsenal beat Everton then the title would be heading to north London.

As much as he would like to see that happen, Merson is not expecting it, tipping the champions to beat the Hammers 2-0 and secure a fourth straight title.

‘Manchester City have done their job and look well to win their record-breaking fourth Premier League title in a row,’ Merson told SportsKeeda. ‘This is a nice game for them to play on the last day of the season but they have to score early to ease the nerves.

‘Against Tottenham their nerves were jangling and they only started playing free-flowing football after Erling Haaland’s second goal.

‘Prediction: Manchester City 2-0 West Ham.’

Merson also expects Arsenal to do their job on Sunday and finish the season on an impressive 89 points thanks to a win over the Toffees.

‘Arsenal have done absolutely nothing wrong this season and have recovered really well after throwing the title away last season, but the sad reality is that they look likely to finish second again,’ he said.

‘It’s all about timing and Arsenal just have to live with the fact that they’ve become good at a time when Manchester City are virtually unbeatable across a 38-game Premier League season.

‘Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Everton.’
