Councilmember Chowdhury, the Minneapolis City Council approved a two-month delay for new rules that would raise pay for ride hailing drivers. Uber and Lyft had threatened to end service in the city when the ordinance was scheduled to take effect on May 1st. Supporters said the new July 1st date would buy time for startups to enter the market, so this extension is a good faith in our side. For this state, For the new apps or new companies coming in but the threats? Of over and left holding us hostage. It’s still out there. The extension also buys time for Minnesota lawmakers to set statewide rules. We support the City Council. We will support what the legislatures decide to bring. And we want that something that is not a burden to the people of Minnesota. We care, and we are Minnesotans as well. And we have every right to fight for our rights and get livable wages so we can also take care of our family. I haven’t had an increase in 7 1/2 years. That’s crazy. I don’t get no raise. I don’t get anything. And if anything, they’ve taken away our percentage and lowered it to just slightly over 50%. But others are skeptical of compromise by summer as possible. They worry that a surge of startups trying to take Uber and Lyft’s place will create chaos for both drivers and riders. Words are going to leave, and it will be replaced by something that we don’t even know what we’re getting. And So what are what? You know when you talked about 12 companies coming in, do I have to have 12 apps open to stay busy? The confusion for riders, It’s confusing for me. It’s confusing for riders.
