John Mullen to join Qantas board next week as chairman-elect

Qantas has revealed that John Mullen will join the airline board as chairman-elect next week on Monday ahead of schedule.

The move could bring forward the resignation of the current chairman, Richard Goyder.

Business reporter Edward Boyd has discussed the latest announcement from Qantas.

“This is quite a significant announcement coming out here from Qantas on the ASX this morning,” Mr Boyd said.

“Remember late last year the head of Qantas Allan Joyce at the time announced his early resignation from the airline and then there were a lot of investors calling for the resignation of the chairman at that point Richard Goyder.”
