‘Yahi Sahi Samay Hai’ to buy an e-scooter

Prime Minister Narendra Modi once famously said, “Yahi samay hai, sahi samay hai,” and while his words were meant for a different context, they ring true for those considering the purchase of an electric scooter. Time is of the essence, as you may have just a few days left to seize the opportunity to acquire your favorite electric scooter or bike at an exceptional value. Here’s why.

To begin with, there are numerous uncertainties surrounding the continuation of FAME subsidies into the next financial year. Earlier this year, the government declared that subsidies under the second phase of the FAME Scheme would be available for e-vehicles sold until March 31, 2024, or until funds are depleted, whichever comes first. With only Rs 7,048 crore allocated for electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers, it’s imperative to act swiftly, or you might miss out on the benefits.

According to Ather Energy, purchasing and registering its scooter before March 31 could make you eligible for up to Rs 22,485 in FAME-II subsidy.

Leading EV manufacturers like Okaya and Ola Electric have also rolled out exclusive discounts for this month only.

Okaya is offering discounts of up to INR 18,000, valid until February 29, 2024. Their electric scooter models now start at INR 74,899, featuring a range of 75 km per charge. The Faast F4 model, which boasts a range of 140 to 160 km per charge, is now available at INR 1,19,990, down from INR 1,37,990. This model comes equipped with two batteries, providing a total output of 4.4 kWh, the highest battery capacity in the industry.

Ola has also slashed prices on its S1 range by Rs 25,000. The Ola S1 X+ is now priced at Rs 84,999, down from Rs 1.09 lakh. Similarly, the Ola S1 Air’s price has been reduced to Rs 1.05 lakh from Rs 1.19 lakh, while the Ola S1 Pro is now available at Rs 1.30 lakh, down from Rs 1.48 lakh. However, Ola has specified that these discounts will only be available for this month.
