The price of staying in the Canary Island holiday hotspot is skyrocketing for UK holidaymakers and tourists, it has been warned.

UK tourists heading to Lanzarote have been warned as hotel room rates have DOUBLED. The cost of staying in the Canary Island holiday hotspot is shooting up for UK holidaymakers, it has been revealed.

New figures show that hotel prices have risen from £52 in 2013, to a whopping £109 per room in 2023 – that’s double the price. This is also a 15.5 per cent increase from November 2022 when rooms were £94 per night.

The cheapest rooms last year were in May and June, averaging 101 and 104. June saw the smallest price increase compared to the previous year, just 2.4 per cent more expensive on average, reports Birmingham Live.

In 2013, the island’s hotels earned 272 million, but last year they raked in a massive 686 million. The Spanish island welcomed an incredible 2.7 million visitors from mainland Spain and other countries last year.

Before Covid hit, the UK market had grown from 807,000 to 1.4 million since 2010, the German market from 280K to 420K and the Irish market from 184K to 291K, showing Lanzarote’s popularity as a holiday destination.

Lanzarote, a favourite summer destination for UK tourists, is home to popular spots like Arrecife, Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise. The island is famous for its warm weather all year round, beautiful beaches and unique volcanic landscape. Timanfaya National Park’s rocky terrain was formed by volcanic eruptions in the 1730s. Another well-liked resort, Puerto del Carmen, boasts whitewashed villas, sandy beaches and dive centres.
