Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Birmingham says Australia is “completely out of step” with nuclear energy.
Mr Birmingham’s comments come as the Coalition’s nuclear energy proposal is expected to include large-scale nuclear reactors.
The minister said the coalition is “looking at removing the prohibitions” on nuclear energy in Australia.
“We will take it to the Australian people, and it will be a very honest conversation,” Mr Birmingham told Sky News Australia.
“We are the only G20 country to not either have nuclear energy or be undertaking work towards nuclear energy as part of a net zero future.
