ITCZ to bring scattered rains in Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines: Southern Mindanao will be cloudy with scattered downpours because of the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Wednesday.
Weather specialist Robert Badrina said the ITCZ will bring overcast skies with scattered rain in Davao Region, South Cotabato, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-tawi, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay.
ITCZ is the imaginary line where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres meet, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, the weather bureau said.
Meanwhile, the easterlies – winds coming from the east that pass through the Pacific Ocean and carry warm and humid weather – will affect most parts of the country including Metro Manila.
“Generally, the country could expect another fair but hot weather over the next 24 hours,” Badrina said.
