'It was my kids' bedtime': Taoiseach says family homes 'out of bounds' after protest at his home

THE TAOISEACH HAS said people’s family homes should be out of bounds from protest after a group of anti-migrant protestors gathered at his home last night.

Sources have said the group, who were carrying posters referring to male migrants and criticising “EU puppets”, stood behind a banner with the words “South Dublin Says No” emblazoned on it. The property is in a housing estate in the Delgany area of Wicklow.

It is understood the group took photographs and spent just minutes at the address before leaving – local gardaí were aware of the protest.

Harris, speaking in Belfast today said people’s families and homes “should be out of bounds” after protesters held a demonstration outside his house.

“I don’t want to say too much about this and I don’t like describing those sorts of things as protest.

“I’ve a very clear view in relation to this. Whether it’s me, whether it’s an opposition politician, whether it’s anybody, I always think people’s families and people’s homes should be out of bounds.

“It was bed time for my kids last night when this situation arose. I don’t think it’s appropriate.”

Sinn Fein leader Michelle O’Neill said: “It is totally inappropriate. The Taoiseach has two young kids and I think your home should be your sanctity and I don’t think there should be any tolerance for that type of attack on someone’s home.”

A garda spokesperson said that gardaí were investigating the incident.

“Gardaí received a report of a gathering of people outside a residence in Greystones, Co. Wicklow shortly after 7:00pm on Thursday 2nd May 2024.

“Those present gathered for a duration of less than 10 minutes before leaving the area.

“An Garda Síochána is investigating all the circumstances of this incident,” the statement said.
