M. Night Shyamalan’s Daughter Ishana Releases Creepy Trailer for Her Directorial Debut ‘The Watchers’
“You can’t see them, but they see everything.”
Warner Bros. has released the trailer for the upcoming horror film “The Watchers,” written and directed by Ishana Shyamalan, the daughter of horror veteran M. Night Shyamalan, in her directorial debut. Based on the gothic horror novel by A.H. Shine, the film stars Dakota Fanning and is set for release in North America on June 7.
Per its official description, “The Watchers” follows Mina (Fanning), a 28-year-old artist “who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.”
In the eerie trailer, Mina looks at a wall made entirely of glass. She’s informed that it’s actually a one-way window; every night the group is watched by a sinister audience, and Mina is just the latest addition to the cast. “They’ll be very interested in someone new,” she’s told. She’s able to hear applause from the other side of the window, but can’t tell who, exactly, is using her for their entertainment.
Additional cast members include Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan and Olwen Fouéré. Fanning most recently starred in “The Equalizer 3,” and Campbell starred in the horror film “Barbarian.”
M. Night Shyamalan is a producer on his daughter’s project, in addition to Ashwin Rajan and Nimitt Mankad. Jo Homewood and Stephen Dembitzer executive produce. New Line Cinema and Blinding Edge Pictures are also behind “The Watchers.”
The film will be released internationally on June 5. Watch the trailer below.
