As CSK are eyeing a return to the top four, Ruturaj Gaikwad is on the cusp of overtaking Sachin Tendulkar and can go past him during the CSK-PBKS fixture. The CSK captain has 2306 runs in 62 IPL matches and he is just 29 runs away from overtaking Sachin.

The Master Blaster finished his IPL career with 2334 runs from 78 matches. Sachin started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2008 and played for them till his retirement in 2013. Sachin’s tally includes one century and 13 half-centuries.

CSK retained him ahead of the IPL 2022 mega-auction. Ruturaj’s consistency with the bat saw MS Dhoni hand him the team’s charge ahead of IPL 2024. Ruturaj has big shoes to fill and he has performed decently so far. Ruturaj is 27 and can lead the Yellow Army for at least a decade.
