MANILA, Philippines: Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson and Calvin Oftana joined hands in sparking TNT’s energetic second-half rampage as it clobbered Phoenix, 116-96 to seal the eighth and last spot in PBA 48th Season Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals on Sunday at the Philsports Arena.

Fighting for their dear playoff life, the Tropang Giga completed the eight-team playoff cast with their 5-6 win-loss record at the close of the eliminations.

Hollis-Jefferson led TNT with 35 points and 11 rebounds, while Oftana added 18, including 12 in the third canto where the Tropang Giga outscored the Fuel Masters, 37-25.

TNT though has the unenviable task of playing top seed Magnolia come Wednesday at 8 p.m. when the playoffs begin at the Philsports Arena as well.

The Tropang Giga, who welcomed the return of sharpshooter Roger Pogoy after recovering from myocarditis, must beat the Hotshots two straight to advance to the semifinals.

The Fuel Masters enter the playoffs as the no.4 seed, and will tangle with the fifth-ranked Meralco Bolts. Both squads collide at 4 p.m.

The other quarterfinal pairings also include San Miguel, which enters the playoffs as the second seed and will face off with No. 7 Rain or Shine.

Reigning champion pBarangay Ginebra (no. 3), meanwhile, battles sixth-seed NorthPort.
