Premier Doug Ford answers question about Wilmot land purchase

Have to be fully transparent. What we’re doing across the province, we’re asking municipalities and regions to assemble land and there’s no proponent right there that we have no one in you know, in the back area waiting to jump in there. But there’s so many requests through Invest Ontario and through Victoria Fidelity through economic development. We’ve sent some forms out. I think it was about a year ago and saying if you want to assembly land. Will be there for you and if you don’t I understand that but we’re trying to do it across the the province and anyone who assembles it, it’s we’re pretty confident companies are going to come and and put a facility there, employ people stir economic development. Create great jobs and just help with the economy. And a lot of smaller towns like for instance Wilmont, they they have, you know, they need money. So what better way than than you know clear some land and and create some development and I’m I’m all for it by the way. But there has to be a willing host these big companies worldwide that are looking to invest in Ontario and we’re so fortunate to have them. If there’s not a willing you know hosting city then they’re going to do it. You know I, I think the world of of the mayor and the council’s doing a great job and you know. Everyone needs to take a a a page. Mayor Joe Preston’s book, the The Development that’s Happening there, they’re building the 4th largest building in the world, the largest battery plant. In North America is going to create thousands and thousands of jobs. They had their supplier week this week and I think 170 companies and these are big companies wanting to invest billions of dollars. So we’re just asking you know regions around the the province assemble line, but there has to be a willing host. If they aren’t willing then just just move on. That’s that’s what it comes down to. But there’s no no plans. There’s no companies that are waiting to get the land. But I’ll guarantee you one thing. Anyone builds land now assembles land. I should say companies are coming because we’re we’re in desperate need across the province of assembled land.
