Interest rates have been on hold at 4.35 per cent since November.
Mr Clennell noted the Reserve Bank’s meeting on Tuesday will be “critical” ahead of the federal budget next week.
“They just don’t want to be seen to be acting against the Reserve Bank,” he said.
“Michele Bullock hangs over Jim Chalmers’ shoulder when he delivers this budget speech.”
