PETALING JAYA: Two persons who allegedly robbed a cat breeder at knife-point last Sunday have been charged in court, according to the police.
Petaling Jaya deputy police chief Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly said the duo were charged on Wednesday under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and/or Section 397 for armed robbery.
Both claimed trial, he said in a statement.
Section 395 carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, while Section 395 provides for compulsory whipping when the offence committed involves the use of a deadly weapon.
Hussin said the police seized a mobile phone, two kittens of the British shorthair and munchkin breed, as well as two pet carrier bags, car keys and a vehicle believed to have been used in the robbery.
He said the suspects, aged 27 and 29, both have a criminal record and are in police custody.
