A recent notable example of this commitment occurred at the Murugan Temple of The MADRAS Regimental Centre in Wellington. “Lt Gen  Manjinder Singh, a Sikh officer and Colonel of the MADRAS Regiment, took part in the sacred Kumbhabhishekam ceremony. What made this event particularly noteworthy was the sight of a Sikh soldier respectfully donning the traditional South Indian dhoti, symbolizing the Army’s seamless integration of diverse cultural practices,” said a source in the Indian Army.

Its religious functions are conducted in accordance with South Indian traditions, a testament to the regiment’s commitment to respecting the beliefs of its soldiers while fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie.
