The NFL Combine has wrapped up in Indianapolis and there were several players on both sides of the ball that increased their draft stock. But one player that was unable to work out due to an injury was Iowa CB Cooper DeJean.
DeJean suffered a leg injury in the middle of the 2023 season and has yet to be cleared to participate in pre-draft workouts. That is expected to change once we get closer to April, but DeJean is still widely viewed as one of the best defenders in this class.
In a recent mock draft done by Pro Football Focus, the Raiders selected DeJean with the No. 13 pick. Here is why the site believes that would be a home-run pick for Las Vegas:
On the field for 388 coverage snaps in 2023, DeJean allowed just 20 receptions for 194 yards and no touchdowns. There is debate on where he best fits at the NFL level, but he is still an elite prospect as a defensive back.
DeJean would be an excellent fit for Las Vegas as he can play outside and in the slot. Plus, he has the size and aggressive nature to play safety, as well. With the Raiders just needing more talent in their secondary, DeJean does feel like a great fit, assuming his medicals are clean.
Don’t be surprised if Antonio Pierce decides to beef up the secondary with DeJean during the 2024 NFL Draft.
