Former UK Foreign Minister Alexander Downer says immigration is proving a “substantial” issue for the UK public as they prepare to vote in a general election.

“The polling shows the issue they are most concerned about is rising cost-of-living,” he told Sky News Australia host Chris Kenny.
“The second issue they are most concerned about is housing – the expense of housing.
“But the third issue they are concerned about is immigration.
“It is a very substantial issue, and I suspect as the debate heats up again over the Rwanda plan … the public will become really focused on it.
“Some people hugely against it.”
