Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Keagan Dolly might leave Amakhosi without tasting silverware.
The former Bafana Bafana attacker has featured in just 67 games for Amakhosi in the three seasons he’s been at the club. He joined on a free transfer from French Ligue 1 outfit Montpellier and many expected big things from Dolly.
The Johannesburg-born winger’s time with the Soweto Giants was hit with injuries, limiting his game time. According to iDiskiTimes‘ Lorenz Kohler, the club is considering parting ways with the 31-year-old star.
Keagan Dolly is one of the highest-paid players at Kaizer Chiefs. The club are reportedly bringing in new players and the former Mamelodi Sundowns be a thing of the past.
In 2022, Dolly revealed why he joined Kaizer Chiefs. He ended his first season without silverware following the club’s 1-0 defeat to TS Galaxy in the Nedbank Cup.
“I am very, very disappointed. I came to Chiefs because I wanted to win trophies, Dolly said.

“I think we have the capacity to do so [win trophies], we have the players, we have the quality, and to go out [of the Nedbank Cup] so early is disappointing.
“I was upset, I was sad [after the game], but we move on. We need to start being consistent on the field, and I think once we start being consistent and start winning, we will start to compete for a lot more,” the star said in 2022
Two years later, Dolly has played fewer games but won nothing. Amakhosi have struggled for results this season and are in danger of missing out on the top-eight finish. If Kaizer Chiefs are considering offloading Keagan Dolly, they have to look at recruiting experienced players somewhere.
Dolly might have to find another club next season, reports say
The club’s interim coach Cavin Johnson refused to give further comments regarding Dolly’s future.
“That’s a blunt question to ask me at this time of the [season] only because Keagan has been out [injured], and Keagan is out injured now at the moment,” Johnson replied.
“If I said this and that, it looks very much like I haven’t given much for Keagan to say, but I think we have to leave that for the end of the season,” the Chiefs coach said on Dolly.
At the age of 31, the ex-Sundowns winger still has plenty left in the tank.
