Hyundai is recalling all Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 electric vehicles (EVs) it has sold in Australia as part of a global campaign to address an issue causing power loss.
“Due to a software issue in the Integrated Charging Control Unit, the auxiliary 12 Volt battery may not charge as intended, resulting in battery drainage and loss of motive power.
“A loss of motive power whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”
Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 EVs recalled in Australia
Hyundai Australia has previously run a service campaign, rolling out an ICCU software update while also offering to replace the ICCU if necessary.
Other electric Hyundai Motor Group vehicles, including the related Kia EV6 and Genesis GV60, have also been the subject of recalls.
This is separate to a recall issued earlier this month for a faulty driveshaft in the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 that could break and result in a loss of power.
A total of 118 vehicles were included in that recall.
- A total of 3521 vehicles are affected from 2021 to 2024
If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to schedule an appointment with a Hyundai dealership to have the software updated, free of charge.
If you have any further questions, you can contact Hyundai Customer Care on 1800 186 306.
