Hum bahut pareshaan hain, says Gurucharan Singh’s father
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma actor Gurucharan Singh (50) has been missing since April 22. He was supposed to travel from Delhi to Mumbai on the day, but never took the flight. His father Hargit Singh, who filed a missing complaint with the Delhi police, spoke to us about his son’s sudden disappearance and the anguish and pain that they are going through. He said, “What has happened is very shocking, we don’t know how to deal with it. Hum sab bahut pareshaan hain and are eagerly waiting for some update from the police. Hum uske wapas aane ka intezaar kar rahe hain.”
A day before he went missing, Gurucharan had posted a picture with his father on Instagram wishing him on his birthday. Talking about that day, his father said, “There were no celebrations as such, but we were at home together and it felt nice. The next day he was supposed to travel to Mumbai.”
One of Gurucharan’s friends, Bhakti Soni, who has known him for the last 10 years, was supposed to fetch him from Mumbai airport. She says, “I went to the airport and waited for him, but he didn’t come. I tried calling him, but I couldn’t reach him. So, I thought he cancelled his trip at the last minute. The next day, I got to know that he was not traceable.”
Bhakti added, “I am now in touch with Gurucharan’s mother. She calls his friends to know if he has connected with any of us. We hope that the police is able to get some information. We are waiting for him to return.”
Gurucharan became a household name as Roshan Singh Sodhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He quit the show in 2013, but returned the next year. He finally exited the show in 2020. The police investigation is ongoing. On April 28, Rohit Meena, DCP, South West, Delhi Police, had said, “We have formed five teams that are working on the case. We have found some CCTV footage, and after scanning the footage, we are following the trail.”
