Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah was on the brink of a move to the Italian Serie A before he got cruelly struck down by injury.
Ndah missed out on career-changing moves
Pirates’ 26-year-old Nigerian defender Olisa Ndah has been the subject of genuine interest from the United States MLS and Italy’s Serie A. However, according to SoccerLaduma, potential moves broke down because of injuries sustained by the Super Eagles star. Ndah has made 15 league appearances this term in another injury-interrupted campaign. Agent Mike Makaab has opened up on the situation his client faces:
“He is unfortunate. Every time Olisa seems to find his best footing, he ends up with these niggling injuries. Thank God they’re not serious, but they are disruptive. They disrupt your rhythm as a footballer. let me tell you, when Olisa has been playing consistently and doing well, we’ve had real interest from outside our borders.
“This isn’t just talk. There was interest from the Italian Serie A. There was interest from the MLS. There was interest from Belgium. Sadly, he hasn’t had a consistent run of games when he was able to show what he did when he first came to South Africa. But, like all footballers, you go through these unfortunate periods. God willing, everything will settle soon and we will see the best of Olisa. He still has another two years left on his contract (after this one).”

PIRATES TRIO SUSPENDED FOR ROYAL AM TRIP
Sipho Chaine, Miguel Timm and Deon Hotto have all picked up four bookings this season. As a result, they must all now serve an automatic one-match suspension. That will necessitate a reshuffle throughout the spine of the side. Goalkeeper Sipho Chaine has been a key operator for the Buccaneers with his ball-playing ability out of defence but he’s got an able deputy in the shape of Melusi Buthelezi. On-loan midfielder Thalente Mbatha has been a hit for Pirates and will come into the side in Timm’s place to anchor the engine room. Meanwhile, utility star Deon Hotto’s versatility and selflessness down the left flank are difficult to replace but skipper Innocent Maela should deputise there.
