Some businesses and lanes on McPhillips Street were flooded Sunday during a water main break amid frigid temperatures.
Water from the leak poured into businesses in a strip mall near the McPhillips and Church Avenue intersection at about 1 p.m., flooding Burnout Vape Shop and Sharma Ji Sweet House and Restaurant.
“We were working, all of a sudden the water started coming into the building,” said Manoj Sharma, owner of Sharma Ji Sweet House.
“The whole strip mall, all the shops, start flooding … so we had to shutdown.”
Sharma said the whole restaurant was flooded and at one point water levels reached about knee-height.

Northbound lanes on McPhillips in the area froze over as the water gushed from the leak.
City crews could be seen working on the leak mid-afternoon in the middle of an extreme cold warning issued by Environment Canada for parts of Manitoba’s south and north.
