How can Rashid stay loyal to Bersatu after what he did, says Muhyiddin
Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin (left) says assemblyman Abdul Rashid Asari’s actions will see his party membership terminated.
HULU SELANGOR: Sharing the stage with Bersatu’s political rivals and delivering a speech against the party are sufficient grounds to have one’s membership terminated, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said.
He said one could no longer claim to be still supporting the party with such behaviour.
“Think about it, is it logical? Based on our constitution, his actions would see his membership terminated,” he said, referring to Selat Klang assemblyman Abdul Rashid Asari.
Muhyiddin was speaking to reporters after meeting with the Indian community in Bandar Baru Batang Kali while campaigning for his party’s candidate in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.
He was commenting on Rashid’s insistence that he remains a Bersatu member despite campaigning for Pakatan Harapan in the by-election.
Rashid had claimed that the party’s constitution did not stipulate an automatic termination of one’s membership for joining PH on the campaign trail in responding to Bersatu secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin earlier today.
Muhyiddin, however, dismissed Rashid’s response saying the assemblyman could say anything he liked.
“We have experts and the Bersatu constitution,” he said.
Rashid, who had voiced support for Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari, had been seen supporting PH’s campaigns in Kuala Kubu Baharu over the past week.
