Hot, humid weather in Metro Manila, most of PH on Maundy Thursday

MANILA, Philippines — Hot and humid weather is seen in Metro Manila and most parts of the country on Maundy Thursday, according to the state weather bureau.

However, Daniel James Villamil, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), said that some areas in the eastern section of the country can expect rain showers.

Easterlies of the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean currently prevail in the country, Villamil also said.

“Dahil sa easterlies, inaasahan pa din natin ang kalat-kalat na pag-ulan na may pagkulog pagkidlat sa eastern section o sa ilang areas ng eastern section,” Villamil said.

(Because of the easterlies, we still expect scattered rain showers with thunderstorms in the eastern section or in some areas of the eastern section.)

“Samantalang sa Metro Manila at sa nalalabing bahagi ng ating bansa, magpapatuloy ang mainit at maalinsangang panahon,” he added.

(Meanwhile, in Metro Manila and the rest of our country, hot and humid weather will continue.)

Villamil said Cagayan Valley and Aurora had already experienced thunderstorms as of early Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, Pagasa did not issue a gale warning in any seaboards nationwide.

On March 23, Pagasa officially declared the start of the summer season.

Also, the country is still reeling from the effects of El Niño or the weather phenomenon which increases the prospect of below-normal rainfall conditions that could bring negative impacts such as “dry spells” or droughts in some parts of the country until the first quarter of this year, Pagasa also said.
