Heavy wet snow and wind on deck for parts of the Prairies.

Winter is not going anywhere across the Prairies, at least for this week. We have snow that is going to be widespread across southern Alberta into the foothills and then central and northern Sask and parts of Manitoba. So your temperatures on Tuesday a lot different than what you’ve seen over the last 24 to 48 hours where we’ve seen upper teens and even 20s for some locations. Tuesday only a daytime high of three for the city of Calgary. Now Speaking of you in Calgary, right along the QE 2 from Calgary N to Red Deer, watch out for some heavy bursts of snow into Tuesday morning during your commute hours. It won’t last too long. I mean, it’ll kind of be on and off throughout the day until the dinner hour, but the heaviest stuff should be in the morning. Meanwhile, we have east of there all rain. Into Wednesday morning, as our temperatures cool, all that turns to snow, basically for central Sask and then parts of Manitoba getting a blast of snow. And we’re also going to see a strong northerly wind with this. So Tuesday afternoon, expect winds around 40 to 50 kilometers an hour, depending on where you live. You can see here. And then even once the snow’s done for you in Alberta, it’s still going to be gusty with gusts over 50 to 60 kilometers an hour. Here’s the snowfall amounts. So through Thursday, bullseye of 15 to 30 centimeters just West of Clara’s home, into the southern foothills and then into the city of Calgary proper. We’ve got generally about 5 to 10 centimeters happening. We look at Thursday and our departure, departure from normal highs after a blast of spring, like warmth. Well, now we’re going to be about anywhere from 6 to 12° below what we should be.
