Norwegian Chief of Defense Eirik Kristoffersen said that supporting Ukraine is his main priority for this year, as reported by Breaking Defense.
He said that without additional assistance from Western countries, Ukraine would be in a dangerous situation.
“I said it in January last year: I don’t see short-term military solution in Ukraine,” he said.
The military official added that Western countries have not invested enough in aid to Ukraine, and they need to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine more. Kristoffersen also said that Norway could provide support to Ukraine in the field of air defense, as it is crucial right now.
He added that he was impressed by the success of the Ukrainian troops in terms of a shortage of weapons, but he also noted the development of the Russian army.
Ukraine is waiting for US assistance
In the near future, the United States will be able to approve a bill to help Ukraine, although it has not been able to do it since last fall.
The Pentagon has already responded that the United States, after approval by Congress, will be able to transfer a new military aid package to Ukraine within a few days.
Reuters reported that the US is preparing a large package of military aid to Ukraine worth $1 billion.
