- Why Taylor Swift mural in Sydney has divided fans

Taylor Swift fans are divided over a large-scale mural of the popstar.
The mural features Swift wearing a low-cut red dress and a diamond 87 pendant – the jersey number worn by her NFL star beau Travis Kelce.
The artwork, by well-known street artist Scottie Marsh, was painted on Little Oxford Street on the corner of Crown Street in Sydney’s CBD.
The mural drew mixed reactions when it was shared on social media on Monday, with some saying it was an unflattering depiction of the popstar.
‘Not one of your better works… looks a bit off,’ one commenter wrote.
‘They butchered her face big time,’ another said.
Others said it was ‘off brand’ for Marsh to paint the American megastar.

The mural was completed just in time for the popstar’s arrival in Sydney on Monday, where she will play four sold-out shows at Accor Stadium from Friday
‘I know you’ve done pop stars before but they’ve tended to be queer cultural icons who have great sentimental and cultural meaning and now… Taylor Swift!?’ they said.
‘Massive fan of your incredible art… But we really don’t need to see any more of this person. There are a million other people with far more substance and meaning that you could’ve painted,’ one woman wrote.
However, others said they loved the mural.
‘Even though I love Scotties more political art I think it’s nice to have murals of peeps who bring joy. As they say, let people have fun!’ one wrote.
‘Why can’t people appreciate art as being art? I like it.. yay Tay Tay,’ a second said.
A third shared: ‘With so much going on in the world, if a Taylor Swift mural pisses you off, then that’s ridiculous,’ another commented.
‘Get angry about stuff that really matters… her success is admirable.’
The mural was completed just in time for Swift’s arrival in Sydney on Monday, where she will play four sold-out shows at Accor Stadium from Friday.
The popstar was accompanied by her entourage as flew in her Bombardier Global 6000 aircraft, which boasts a double bed and fine dining cabin.
Swift is staying at Crown’s presidential villa in Barangaroo, which boasts picturesque views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
While Australians have seen the likes of Kourtney Kardashian, Travis Barker and Pink! out and about in public in recent weeks before Monday’s sighting Swift has managed to completely evade the spotlight while Down Under.
Rumours Kelce might be joining Swift in Sydney before accompanying her to shows in Singapore were prompted after the popstar sent her private jet to Hawaii.
Kelce was last spotted in Kansas City, but is thought to be flying to Los Angeles via a private jet, quite possibly to catch a connecting flight to Hawaii.
If the NFL star does fly to Australia, he will land just in time to watch Swift perform at Sydney’s Accor Stadium later this week.
