Hasina's commitment to amplifying voices of climate vulnerable nations truly commendable: CVF

Dhaka, Jan. 14 — Congratulating Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her election victory, Secretary-General of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) Mohamed Nasheed has said PM Hasina’s unwavering commitment to addressing environmental challenges and amplifying the voices of climate vulnerable nations is truly commendable.

“Under her guidance, Bangladesh has played a pivotal role in advocating for global climate action, as evidenced by Bangladesh’s successful recent presidency of the Climate Vulnerable Forum,” he said in a statement.

Nasheed said Prime Minister Hasina’s dedication to enhancing resilience and ensuring the inclusion of vulnerable countries in climate discussions reflects her profound commitment to a sustainable and equitable future for all.

“I am delighted to congratulate Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her election victory. The Prime Minister’s re-election is a testament to her remarkable leadership, in particular on the pressing issue of climate change,” he said.

Nasheed attended the Prime Minister’s oath taking ceremony and celebrations at Bangabhaban on Thursday.

He also congratulated Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury for his appointment.

“Good to see another CVF environment minister with the knowledge and ability to engage in today’s climate matters. A minister who can deliver CVF’s work and produce real results,” Nasheed said.
