Things are rapidly changing at the Indian box office! On one hand we have big ticket Hindi films that are struggling to even recover their costs, while on the other hand, Hollywood films like Dune 2, Kung Fu Panda 4 and Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire are surparring box office expectations. The latest film of the Monsterverse has crossed the magical figure of Rs 100 crore in India, while Maidaan and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan are at Rs 42.75 crore and Rs 60.65 crore respectively.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire raked in Rs 57.75 crore in its first week, followed by Rs 24.5 crore in the second week and Rs 10.8 crore in the third week and in the fourth week the film earned Rs 6.69 crore, taking its four week total collection to Rs 99.74 crore. And in the fifth weekend, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire managed to cross the Rs 100 crore mark, as it collected Rs Rs 51 lakh on Friday, Rs 1.01 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.34 crore on Sunday, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 102.6 crore. The film has now gone on to become the 12th highest earning Hollywood film in the country, beating the likes of Thor: Love and Thunder and Jurassic World.
Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire features Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns, and Fala Chen. Hall, Henry, and Hottle reprise their roles from the previous installment. The storyline sees Kong discovering more of his kind in the Hollow Earth and joining forces with Godzilla to prevent their oppressive leader and a formidable, climate-altering Titan from wreaking havoc on the surface.
