STormers-Sacha-Feinberg-Mngomezulu-and-Springboks-fly-half-handre-pollard
The Stormers have locked in the services of one of South Africa’s brightest prospects, with Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu signing a contract extension with the Cape Town-based side.
It is yet another boost for John Dobson’s side after they confirmed the return of JD Schickerling and double Rugby World Cup-winning Springboks prop Steven Kitshoff ahead of next season.
Feinberg-Mngomezulu, a former Junior Springbok captain, has penned a contract extension with the Stormers until 2027.
Generational talent
The 22-year-old is widely tipped for a long future in the Springboks jersey, having impressed during the early stages of his career, making his Stormers debut in the cauldron of a United Rugby Championship quarter-final in 2022 at the age of just 20.
“Sacha has been earmarked as a generational talent since he was a schoolboy and it is has been great to see him break through into the senior ranks in the last few seasons,” director of rugby Dobson said.
“Now that his future here is confirmed, we are looking forward to seeing him develop further and fulfil the potential that is clear to anyone who has watched him play.
“He has the ability to become a world-class fly-half and we want to equip him with everything he needs to do just that.
“Our intention is to retain the top talent we have here before looking elsewhere and this is the first of a few announcements that we will make to show how serious we are about continuing this project and keeping the bulk of our current squad together until at least 2027.”

Next Springbok fly-half
Feinberg-Mngomezulu has shown his versatility with his ability to play fly-half, centre and fullback, seamlessly slotting into all three positions, but it is in the number 10 jersey where many see him settling.
In fact, Springboks legend Victor Matfield has backed the youngster to fill Handre Pollard’s void in the Green and Gold jersey in the years to come.
“I think he is the next Springbok fly-half. I would like to see the Stormers give him a bit more of a chance at fly-half, not just at inside centre,” Matfield said.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu is also a physical specimen and with an accurate boot off the tee, he is primed to continue his succeed with the Stormers.
“I grew up in Cape Town supporting the DHL Stormers and my experiences in the senior squad over the last three seasons have been amazing,” Feinberg-Mngomezulu said.
“We have some incredible players here and I want to keep learning from all of them and the coaches. I’m really excited about what we can all achieve together in the future.”
