Canino-less La Salle outlasts UE, seizes 7th straight win

MANILA, Philippines: The De La Salle Lady Spikers struggled big time without top scorer and reigning MVP Angel Canino but still got the job done.

The defending champs denied the UE Lady Warriors in five sets, 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 22-25, 15-12, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday, April 9 to seize their seventh straight win.

Canino-less La Salle outlasts UE, seizes 7th straight win

The triumph also extended La Salle’s winning run against UE to 28 games dating back to Season 70 in 2008.

Thea Gagate fired 22 points on three blocks, two service aces, and 17 attacks including the clincher as La Salle seized the lead in the standings with a 9-1 slate with 26 points.

UST also carries the same win-loss card but sports 24 points only.

Khy Cepada pumped 23 points to pace the Lady Warriors who moved on the brink of elimination with a 2-8 slate, sixth in the standings.
