Mother of quintuplets is stunned to learn she's pregnant again just ONE YEAR after giving birth to five babies - having accidentally forgotten to take birth control amid chaos of parenting her newborns

A mom has been left stunned to learn she is pregnant again just one year after giving birth to quintuplets – admitting she accidentally forgot to take her birth control for one day.

Haylee Ladner, from Mississippi, suffers from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) with symptoms including irregular menstrual cycles.

It meant that she was not particularly concerned after missing her period last month, telling Today: ‘We weren’t trying, and I was on birth control.’

But the mom-of-five took a pregnancy test as a precaution and was shocked to learn she was pregnant with baby number six.

The mom explained how three of the five tots had been hospitalized with pneumonia in December and it was during this ‘chaos’ that she could have forgotten to take her birth control.

She had initially ignored her pregnancy symptoms, explaining: ‘For one thing, I was really, really tired, but I assumed it was just because I have five kids!

‘Of course I’m tired. So I just kind of chalked it up to that.’

Shawn had insisted the couple take a handful of extra pregnancy tests to be sure – but all came back positive.

The couple headed to their first ultrasound where doctors confirmed it was a baby girl due in July.

Haylee said: ‘We thought we were completely done, but we were blessed with this sweet surprise.

‘This will be our last baby… We plan to take extra precautions.’

Her current brood of four girls and one boy are currently thriving, she concluded: ‘Watching them interact together is just the best’

She was initially nervous but soon channeled her feelings into excitement.

‘It was scary at first, because they’re going to be so close together in age, but if I can handle five, I can handle six!’ she exclaimed.

Her current brood of four girls and one boy are currently thriving, she concluded: ‘Watching them interact together is just the best.

‘They’re constantly laughing and smiling at each other. And we just sit there wondering what it is that they’re talking about.’

The couple, who married in 2019, had always wanted to have a large family with at least four children, Haylee, who is a middle school teacher at Oak Grove Middle School, said.

But after she suffered two miscarriages, Haylee was terrified she may not be able to conceive and so turned to intrauterine insemination (IUI), to help them get pregnant.

The procedure is a type of artificial insemination which involves sperm being placed in the uterus around the time an ovary releases one or more eggs.

The odds of conceiving quintuplets naturally are one in 60 million, but with reproductive technology that chance goes up to six in 10,000, according to reports.
