From acne to rosacea, 3 women explain why they can't do without this Dr Jart Cicapair product

If you’ve ever suffered from a skin condition like eczema, acne or rosacea – or even just had an overnight flare-up of redness and irritation – you’ll know how frustrating it can be finding the right skincare to move forward in your routine with.

There are plenty of soothing and hydrating skincare products out there but finding the right skincare routine for your sensitised skin can sometimes be a bit of a trail and error situation – never being quite sure which products could further irritate the condition.

So when one product gets a lot of anecdotal love, we’re all ears. Below, three women share their experience of using the new Dr Jart+ So Soothing Treatment – a gel-like balm that works to reduce redness, soothe irritation and heal the skin barrier. Here’s what you need to know…

What is Dr Jart So Soothing Treatment?

Small but mighty, this little tube of green-tinted super serum works to instantly relieve stressed-out skin, leaving it soothed and hydrated. Packed with calming centella asiatica, peptides and Alpaflor (a prebiotic that works to protect the skin while it heals), this concentrated treatment helps to relieve dryness and discomfort while minimising moisture loss. Its gel-to-balm texture instantly smooths over irritated, bumpy texture – hydrating the skin, while the green tint instantly calms redness.

Why is Dr Jart so popular?

If you’ve never tried Dr Jart products, lets rewind for a minute – because the cult skincare brand is definitely one to know about. Hailing from Korea, each product has been designed to treat and heal everyday complexion concerns with a blend of skin-balancing and ultra-healing formulas.

From rubber sheet masks to their award-winning Cicapair range, Dr Jart is a go-to brand for simple but effective soothing skincare.

Is Cicapair worth it?

The Cicapair range from Dr Jart are all formulated with centella asiatica to soothe visible redness, hydrate, and repair skin’s barrier for more resilient skin. Centella asiatica is a plant-derived ingredient that works wonders to support your skin’s barrier function while shielding your face from external aggressors. It cloaks the skin in a soothing and protective blanket — helping to lock-in moisture so that irritated and sensitised skin can recover and heal underneath.

Three women explain why they can’t do without Dr Jart Cicapair So Soothing Treatment:

1/ Bex Knight, 30, from Nottingham has been dealing with Rosacea for the past five years.

‘I’ve had rosacea since I turned 25 and it’s only gotten worse in the past year or so. Nothing I’ve tried seemed to help for long and I’ve tired nearly every over the counter rosacea product you can buy. Each one would work for a week or so and then just suddenly stop.

I would do anything to hide my skin and I even bought blue light glasses so I’d have some sort of obstruction to my face for client meetings; I was that embarrassed. I’d also wear so much makeup, even when working out, because I didn’t want people to see how red and lumpy my skin was.

I was familiar with Dr Jart’s iconic colour correction cream as I seen it all over Instagram so decided to give a few other products in that range a try. After trying the So Soothing Treatment, I saw results in days. Not only that, but months later and it is still helping.

While my skin still isn’t perfect, the redness and bumpiness has significantly reduced and I feel so much more confident in my daily life. I no longer feel ashamed to go bare faced when I’m in the gym or out and about. Since using this, I’ve had reduced swelling, reduced redness and reduced dryness. I feel like my skin has got its glow back and it feels so much more comfortable.’

2/ Isabella Matthews, 25, from Kent has had acne since she was nine and has been dealing with scarring and redness every since.

I’ve had acne for a long time and I’ve tried lots of medications, diets and products. Nothing has worked long term for my skin due to hormonal issues. Lots of the products on the market are branded as ‘blemish busting’ or claim they’ll have miraculous results in 24 hours but they’re the ones that always make my skin break out more.

My skin use to really affect my day to day life. I would never leave the house without make up on but after starting my IG account, I try to show others that I use products and make up to boost my confidence rather than to hide what I really look like.

Running my account means I’m often trying lots of different skincare products to review but often the products aren’t good for my skin. The So Soothing Treatment is the perfect way to bring my skin back to health. It starts to make a difference after the first use but within two weeks my skin is just so much calmer, less irritated and hydrated. My skin just loves the formulation and it always feels better once I’ve used it.’

3/ Katie Mackie, 27, Teddington, reveals her eczema caused her so much anxiety she would cover it with clothes and makeup. She also used airbrushing apps to edit her eczema out on pictures.

‘The physical inability to do things during a flare isn’t always the worst part. It’s the overthinking. When my skin is red and inflamed, I always think people are staring at it. Granted sometimes they are but often it’s the anxiety making me think they are. Sadly the worry of other peoples stares and judgement for years stopped me from loving myself and really impacted my body image. I never really felt beautiful.

With time I’ve realised true beauty starts in your head, not in your mirror. As I’ve grown up and had to experience the insecurities that come from having a skin condition, you soon realise the affect that a simple question about someone’s appearance could negatively have on them, so I tend to be more aware and empathetic to people with any skin conditions. With time, I’ve learned that if you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.

When I worked in hospitality and took food to tables, I always thought people were staring at my hands when the reality is most of them were staring at their food arriving. I used to prepare what I’d say if someone stared at me when I worked in hospitality so I could educate them. I have found myself in this weird place where what I once feared I love as I have this passion for educating others about how eczema is way more than just a rash. Let’s call this place inner and outer peace.

Joining the online skin community and sharing my story has helped me reach a place of self-acceptance and every day I find myself slowly building towards being a confident badass itchy b*tch. I went from hiding and overthinking about people seeing my skin to reclaiming my power by controlling my narrative and hopefully helping to change the general narrative about skin conditions little by little. The fave quote I’ve ever written is “We can’t always control our [insert skin condition], but we can control how we react to it. That is our power”.

I tried it all when it comes to treating my eczema even the celery juice! but let’s just say it upset my gut! Coconut oil also a no go! Thankfully, I found out about Dr Jart through a couple of friends online with eczema, they were messaging me raving about it and I always trust a fellow itchy friend recommendation. I love using it on an allergy face flare as it feels like a minty cooling sensation that really takes the edge off.’
