Football fans predict who will be relegated from Premier League in YouGov poll

Football fans have predicted that Luton Town will be the team relegated from the Premier League alongside Burnley and Sheffield United this season.

Although Sheffield United and Burnley’s return to the Championship after one season in the top flight looks all-but certain, with just two points separating 16th-placed Everton and 18th-placed Luton Town heading into the final few weeks of the 2023/24 campaign, the team who’ll join them in the second division is still very much up in the air.

Luton Town currently occupy the final relegation berth, having accumulated just 25 points from 33 games thus far in their maiden Premier League season. Just ahead of the Hatters in 17th and on 26 points is Nottingham Forest, who were recently thrown deep into the relegation dogfight thanks a two-point deduction incurred due to Premier League Profit and Sustainability breaches.

Everton, who sit in 16th on 27 points, have also been deducted a whopping eight points thus far thanks to their PSR breaches. Sean Dyche’s side do have the cushion of having a game in hand over both Forest and Luton however, with the Toffees set to face off against arch rivals Liverpool in late April.

Football fans have predicted that, despite the points deductions received by both Everton and Forest, it will be Luton who are relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2023/24 season. In a poll conducted by YouGov regarding who will go down, the Hatters garnered 54% of the votes.

Everton trailed behind with 24% of votes, while Forest picked up just 22% of votes.

The Toffees are set to welcome Forest to Goodison Park on Sunday for what promises to be a relegation six-pointer. On Saturday, Luton are due to face off against Brentford in a London derby at Kenilworth Road.
