Floyd Mayweather responds to commentator mid-fight during latest exhibition

Floyd Mayweather responded to the commentary team's praise of his “psychological warfare” while in the ring during his exhibition clash with Don Moore.

The boxing legend took part in his third exhibition showcase in the Middle East having previously defeated Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa and YouTube star Logan Paul. Mayweather dropped and dominated his former sparring partner Moore, despite his opponent managing to cling on and survive the eight-round distance.

Commentators who were in close quarters of the encounter while analysing the event ringside heaped praise on the star for his boxing brain and ability to conduct mind games. Mayweather traded punches with Moore close to where the announcers were positioned before turning his head and swiftly shouting back to them: “I do that.”

The pair were left stunned by the interaction and laughed alongside the crowd and boxing legend, who was visibly enjoying his latest outing in the ring. Mayweather was clearly out to put on a show for the fans who had made the short-notice trip to the Etihad Arena.

After the sixth round, Mayweather's antics continued having stolen the ring girl's job by holding up her card and sharing a dance in the ring during the break. He maintained a smile throughout the fight and even narrated his own shots to his opponent who seemingly struggled with the pace of proceedings.

Mayweather and Moore embraced after the final bell in a hugely-respectful gesture before the boxing legend heaped praise on his counterpart. “I would like to thank everybody in the UAE, the media, and everybody who covered this fight. This is one of the best country's in the world,” Mayweather said after the fight.

“Don Moore is still undefeated, we are both still undefeated. I will bring another fight back to the UAE this year. It's a secret. I don't want to let the cat out the bag right now. But we have an opponent, and I choose the UAE.”

Mayweather was understandably in a celebratory mood, having potentially earned a purse of up to $100 million for just sixteen minutes of action in the ring. He was also paid $1 million in the build-up to the clash to promote the fight at a press conference alongside UFC legend Anderson Silva.

The event was rescheduled to take place at a new venue having previously been planned on a helipad atop the Burj Al Arab hotel. Mayweather later admitted the event was a roller-coaster for all the fighters.

“It's been a little rollercoaster ride for all of the fighters,” Mayweather said at a press conference following yesterday's weigh-in. “I want to commend the fighters on just being patient. These types of things happen in life, we go through ups, we go through downs but we stand strong, stand together and we made it happen.

“I want to say thank you to everyone in the whole UAE for having patience and all of the fighters up here who are unbelievable and the sponsors.”
