Florida, South Carolina coming down to the wire for four-star QB

Ryan Montgomery is currently an undecided 2025 four-star quarterback recruit, which makes him the apple of many programs’ eyes across college football.

That said, the four-star from Findlay, Ohio isn’t planning on being out in the wind for long. He’s down to three schools — South Carolina, Georgia and Florida — and according to On3, he’s planning on making his commitment this week.

The Gamecocks seem to be the current favorite to land Montgomery’s commitment but don’t count out the Gators as well. He recently took a visit to Gainesville and he told On3 that it provided him with a better idea of what he’s looking for.

“There’s more clarity. I think this visit was really big for me, especially since I got to be around the players more and get some of my other questions answered,” Montgomery said. “We’re going to see how the South Carolina visit goes. I’m super excited for that as well, but I’d say there’s a lot more clarity right now than confusion.”

While that does sound good for Florida, Montgomery is taking an official visit to South Carolina this weekend for the Gamecocks’ spring game. Being that the visit is happening after his expected decision date of Wednesday, the timing of the OV would suggest that Shane Beamer and co. have reason to be confident.

Whoever lands Montgomery is getting a talented quarterback. Per 247Sports, he’s ranked No. 12 at his position nationally.
