Bath have been dealt a double setback after it was confirmed that Scotland international stars Finn Russell and Cameron Redpath had suffered “significant” injuries.

The duo are facing a battle to play again this season after the club gave an update on the injuries that were sustained in the recent Champions Cup defeat to Exeter Chiefs.

Russell was forced off the field with a suspected groin injury after 15 minutes at Sandy Park on April 6, while Redpath departed in the second half with an ankle problem.

Double setback

Bath currently sit in second spot in the Premiership standings with four regular-season matches left as they target reaching the play-offs and then final in early June.

However, an injury update from Bath’s head of medical Rory Murray revealed that both Scotland players were set for a spell of rehabilitation in a blow to the team.

“Cameron sustained significant ankle ligament damage in the Investec Champions Cup round of 16 tie against Exeter Chiefs. His availability will be assessed weekly,” the update on the club’s website read.

The Scotland duo are not the only concerns for Bath after it was confirmed that back-row Ted Hill is a doubt for their upcoming game against Exeter this Saturday.

Being monitored

The club revealed the 25-year-old England international continues to be monitored on the chest injury he picked up against the Chiefs in the Champions Cup loss.

In other news from the Recreation Ground side, second-row Josh McNally and back-row GJ van Velze are both back in full training. However, full-back Sam Harris has been ruled out for the season after sustaining an unspecified injury in training.

While they have injuries to key men, Bath enter Saturday’s match with a refreshed group after having a week’s break while Europe’s quarter-finals were taking place.
