“Doha Qatar… it was lovely,” Filipino American gymnast Levi Jung-Ruivivar expressed after her triumphant performance at the Doha World Cup secured her ticket to the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Despite challenges, including a previous injury, the incoming freshman at Stanford University has shown unwavering dedication as she participated in all legs of the 2024 World Cup series, clinching the silver medal.

While narrowly missing the gold for the Uneven Bars, claimed by French Algerian star Kayla Nemour, Jung-Ruivivar’s performance was nothing short of outstanding. Nemour, already bound for the Paris Olympics, scored 15.366 with an execution score of 8.366 and a difficulty of seven points.

Jung-Ruivivar scored 13.633 (7.833 and 5.8), earning second place.

Jung-Ruivivar’s journey to Olympic qualification was marked by her unrelenting dedication, evident in her participation in the Cairo, Cottbus and Baku legs of the World Cup series. Her consistent performance earned her the second slot through accumulated reallocated Olympic ranking points.

The news of Jung-Ruivivar’s qualification was met with jubilation, with Stanford Gymnastics taking to Instagram to express their pride and excitement, with a caption “She’s PARIS bound!”

“A huge congrats to Levi Jung-Ruivivar, incoming SWG ‘24 freshman, for qualifying for the 2024 Olympics on the uneven bars for the Philippines yesterday in Doha! We could not be more proud of you and can’t wait to cheer you on this summer,” the post continued.

Meanwhile, Paris-bound Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo also secured a gold medal in Parallel Bars and a silver in Vault at the 2024 International Gymnastics Federation’s Doha World Cup in Qatar.

Yulo clinched the gold in the apparatus final with a score of 15.200, surpassing Yuan Hsi Hung of Chinese Taipei (14.966) and Caio Souza of Brazil (14.566).

The Philippine Sports Commission extended its congratulatory message to both Olympic gymnastics qualifiers, stating, “Congratulations to both of you! What a great way to build up for the 2024 Summer Olympics!”
